THE LAUNCH OF SONGS LEFT PODCAST!

Welcome to the Songs Left Podcast Homepage! Hosted by Heirloom Records founder Max Lopez, this Podcast hosts interviews with traditional and regional musicians. The show focuses on the origins and influences of these musicians and explores issues related to performing in traditional genres. The show offers to explore the nature of many questions related to regional culture, genre development, the relationship between musician and influences, the relationship between local musician and career, as well as reveal the biographies and actual work of individual musicians. The show typically focuses on music directly connected to geographic region and inquires into the relationship of musician to region especially if the musician is geographically removed from the musics origin. Consequently the show also seeks to understand how traditional and regional musics develop in diasporic communities, and a world of globalized communication. The show most often features musicians working in American Genres including Blues, Bluegrass/Oldtime, Cajun/Creole/Zydeco, Folk, R&B, and Swing, Jazz, as well Regional Musics from East, West, and Southern Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean Islands. Based in Oakland California, the show typically features artists living in The San Francisco Bay Area, or with upcoming touring dates in the Region.

The goal of the show is ambitious…. It will begin as a monthly show with goal of becoming weekly and ultimately daily. Typically interviews will last anywhere between 30 mins and an hour, and will feature live performances along with the interview. The Monthly content will be made available free to the public, however a subscription platform will also be available as more frequent content is made available.
